Columbus Field Experience

The Voices of American TAH grant held their 2010-2011 field experience on December 1 in Columbus. It was a great day learning about Ohio government and seeing some of the important buildings essential to making laws and presiding over them. Below are just a few photos from our trip to the Ohio Statehouse and Ohio Judicial Center.

The Statehouse was decorated for Christmas!

Everyone listens intently to our tour guide as he discusses the history of the Statehouse.

Sitting in the "ladies' balcony" of the House of Representative in the Statehouse.

The George Washington Williams Memorial in the Statehouse. He was the first African-American elected to the Ohio House. We heard from Mr. Williams (or Anthony Gibbs) later in the day!

Learning about the Ohio Judicial system in the Visitor Education Center at the Supreme Court of Ohio/Ohio Judicial Center.

Bad hair day? No, just learning about different important judicial cases and their impact on our lives today.
